SANFORD — Central Carolina swept to a victory starting its volleyball season on Friday. The Cougars rolled in three straight sets, 25-13, 25-12, 25-15, beating Guilford Tech.

Central Carolina (1-1) went five sets but fell against visiting Davidson County Saturday; 25-20, 20-25, 25-23, 16-25, 15-5.

In the win over Guilford Tech, Lily Bonner totaled 25 assists and Taylor Rosser led the Cougar hitters with 11 kills.

Bonner, Grace McAllister and Mekenzie Harris served four aces each. Pristina Tabon made eight digs. Kaiyan Padilla and Breighanna Hobbs scored six kills apiece.

CCCC rallied from a set down twice before Davidson County took the fifth set.

Bonner set 41 assists with McAllister scoring 11 kills, Rosser getting 10 and Hobbs getting nine. Padilla made 20 digs as Jalonni Gadist made 14 and Harris made 13.
