North Moore’s Justis Dorsett runs for a touchdown in the first half as the Mustangs played Chatham Central Thursday night in Robbins. Dorsett ran for eight touchdowns and the Mustangs won, 77-50.

ROBBINS — North Moore running back Justis Dorsett ran for eight touchdowns and 367 yards, not for the season, but in one game, a 77-50 Mustang victory over Yadkin Valley rival Chatham Central Thursday night.

The Mustangs (4-3) scored on their first play from scrimmage; with Jaleak Horne taking a double-handoff play, racing around the left end and going 48 yards for a touchdown.

North Moore got the ball back a few minutes later and it took two plays to score. This time is was Dorsett on the latter end of a wing-T style double handoff going 46 yards to the end zone.

The Mustangs didn’t need another offensive snap for their next touchdown as a poor snap on a Bear punt bounced into the end zone and safety Trace Wilson got to it for a Mustang touchdown.

The scoring, just for the first quarter, was far from done.

On a 4th-and-17 play Michael Moore hit Parker Crowley going deep for a 41-yard TD pass.

Dorsett raced around the left side and down the sideline for a 36-yard TD dash on the next Mustang possession.

On the next Bear possession, running back Malachi Moore took a pitch then passed to Tyler Oldham for a 22-yard TD. The Mustangs led 28-14 after one quarter.

The Mustangs got back-to-back touchdowns with a Dorsett run capping a 4-play, 40-yard drive, then after recovering an onsides kick, Horne finished a quick drive with a TD run making it 42-14.

On the next snap, Michael Moore hit Oldham deep and Oldham took it all the way for a 90-yard TD catch.

North Moore scored on its next snap — with Dorsett going for a 47-yard TD run.

The Bears tacked on two more TD passes, a 34-yard catch by Crowley and Malachi Moore scoring on a 7-yard play with 0:04 left in the half.

It all added up to a 56-38 North Moore lead at halftime.

Dorsett had 10 carries, 303 yards and six TDs in the half.

The Mustangs stopped the first Chatham Central possession of the second half, then Dorsett dashed 81 yards for a TD on the first Mustang possession. In one half plus one carry, Dorsett had 10 carries, 303 yards and six TDs.

Relatively speaking, the Mustangs were able to take time off the clock from there. Dorsett scored his seventh TD on a 32-yard carry early in the fourth quarter and his eighth on a 9-yard run to finish a five-minute Mustang march down the field.

Horne ran 11 times for 153 yards and two TDs.

For the Bears, Michael Moore completed 25 of 45 passes for 445 yards and six TDs. Crowley made 12 catches for 172 yards and three TDs.
